The e-Government Training Centre is mandated by the Federal Ministry of Communications & Digital Economy to build the capacities of citizens on e-Governance in both the public and private sectors of Nigeria’s economy. This is with a view of providing the manpower development component of the Nigeria e-Government Masterplan. Thus, the Centre is one of the key implementation frameworks through which the Digital Transformation Programme of the current administration is realized.
In rendering its services to the nation, the Centre strongly partners and collaborates with some key stakeholders, notably National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Galaxy Backbone Ltd (GBB) and Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN). This is based on the believe that e-Government implementation is a multi-stakeholder and cross-cutting in nature. The e-Government Training Centre also creates an avenue to promote public-private partnerships in the development and promotion of competencies and exchange of professional ideas and knowledge to FastTrack the dissemination, penetration and adoption of principles and practices of e-Governance into the Nigeria’s economy.
Furthermore, since the Ministry is the Government organ bestowed with the responsibilities of planning, supervising and implementing e-Government initiatives, it remains the main driver in providing guidelines and direction to the Centre. Finally, all activities of the Centre are being governed and steered at the apex level by its Governing Committee whose membership is derived from the Ministry and the key partners to the Centre.
